The Chameleon Theatre Circle’s Third Annual
New Play Festival
February 2, 2002
(02-02-02)

Playwrights from across the country submitted original scripts (not previously produced) to Chameleon as part of our third annual New Play Contest. The top three submissions are presented in this one-day festival filled with fun, laughter and emotion.

These plays are presented "concert style" – the actors will carry scripts and movement will be minimal. The focus is on the story and the writing. Post-show discussions will immediately follow each reading. All three shows are considered for possible production in our next season. So come and provide your insights and input and help shape Chameleon’s fifth season!

Chameleon has produced 3 New Plays as a result of past festivals:

  1. Helena Handbasket
    by Timothy Braatz
    February/March 2001
  2. New & Nobler Life
    by Timothy Braatz
    August 2001
  3. Are We There Yet?
    by Kent R. Brown
    May 2002

Admission to the festival is free. Donations will be accepted to help offset costs.

The Festival is held at the Apple Valley Community Center.

BROKEN LOYALTIES
by Christopher Karbo
Directed by Brian Allard

What happens when you meet someone who makes you question everything you have ever done, and then you have to kill her? What happens when the world of nice is confronted with the world of darkness? FOR THE PERSEVERANCE OF PLENTITUDE
by Laura Henry
Directed by Debra Dean

Considering the unmistakable lack of patronage at the modest art museum where she works, museum administrator Frances has a lot to deal with. She is pulled between Howard, the screwed-down-tight curator, and Lillian, a "difficult" artist who seems to know more about Frances than Frances does herself. Hanging in the balance is the future of the Clifton Collection, and a painting called Plentitude...
